Purpose of Position

Director, Software Engineering at NetJets have demonstrated experience in managing, measuring, and driving complex tasks and projects, constantly operating in a raise the bar mindset. Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Establish and communicate a compelling vision for multiple teams under your leadership to modernize the technology landscape in a complex ecosystem of home grown, vendor hosted and custom-built software solutions.
  • Own, grow and mature applications to consistently address business needs.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for multiple software engineering delivery teams, ensuring consistent execution against scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Ensure engineering teams deliver secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and technology standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery predictability, velocity, and quality, using metrics and outcome‑based reporting.
  • Lead the software engineering transformation program (ERP) implementation and major system modernizations as well as system integration efforts between ERP platforms and surrounding applications, ensuring data integrity, performance, and reliability.
  • Partner with business, enterprise architecture, and vendors to translate transformation objectives into executable technical delivery plans.
  • Manage risks associated with complex transformation programs, including phased rollouts, cutovers, legacy decommissioning, and post‑go‑live stabilization.
  • Lead, coach, and develop engineering managers and senior technical leaders, fostering accountability and leadership depth.
  • Build and maintain high‑performing, diverse, and engaged engineering teams with a strong delivery and ownership mindset.
  • Support workforce planning, capacity management, and succession planning aligned to transformation and operational needs.
  • Partner with data, architecture, and business leaders to identify high‑value AI use cases embedded in software solutions (e.g., process automation, decision support, intelligent user experiences).
  • Ensure AI‑enabled features are designed, delivered, and operated responsibly, aligned with security, privacy, compliance, and ethical standards.
  • Guide engineering teams on the practical adoption of AI services and platforms (e.g., AI APIs, automation, CoPilot) without compromising system stability or delivery predictability.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other (KSAOs)

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering for complex problems, and past leadership experience in similar roles at mid-to-large enterprises
  • Proven experience leading multiple software development delivery teams in an enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated success delivering large, complex business transformation initiatives, including ERP systems’ implementations or comparable enterprise platforms.
  • Strong experience operating in organizations with business, architecture, and vendor dependencies.
  • Solid understanding of modern software engineering practices, including:
    • Agile and scaled delivery frameworks
    • Application lifecycle management
    • System integration and data flows
    • Cloud and enterprise application architectures
  • Ability to engage credibly with architects and senior engineers on solution design, trade‑offs, and delivery implications (hands‑on coding not required).
  • Experience managing large, multi‑year programs with multiple workstreams, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of ERP delivery models, including configuration vs. customization trade‑offs, integration patterns, and operational impacts.
  • Ability to manage complex dependencies across business processes, systems, and teams.
  • Working knowledge of AI‑enabled application patterns, including:
    • Embedded AI services within enterprise applications
    • Automation and decision‑support use cases
    • Integration of AI platforms with core systems (e.g., ERP, CRM)
  • Understanding of AI governance considerations, including data quality, model lifecycle, explainability, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to evaluate AI initiatives based on business value, risk, and operational impact, rather than novelty.
  • Exceptional verbal and written articulation skills – ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas in a non-technical, simple manner across different levels and geographies of an organization.
