Purpose of Position

The Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA) Program is a FAA approved program designed to improve Aviation Safety by providing more information about, and greater insight to, the total flight operations environment through selective automated recording and analysis of data generated during flight operations. The FOQA Gatekeeper role is responsible for identifying flights that may require crew contacts, conduct crew contact, and ensure identified information is held in strict confidence at all times.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Ensure identified information is held in strict confidence at all times.
  • Identify flights that may require crew contacts in collaboration with the FOQA Team.
  • Conduct crew contacts in a professional manner, and accomplish the objectives set forth by the FOQA Monitoring Team (FTM).
  • Provide, in a de-identified format, the information learned from the contact to the FMT.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Assist with in-depth analysis of significant events.
  • Assist with the development of FOQA content for publications.
  • Assist with presentation of single event or aggregate data information to crewmembers where practical.
  • Assist with FOQA data collection and accountability. 
  • Attend appropriate industry conferences, and, when agreed upon by the FMT, present select data.

Education

Bachelor's in Aviation or related field

Certifications and Licenses

FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP)

  • ATP Certificate required.
  • Must be able to work independently and use independent discretion and judgement.
  • Familiarity with safety analysis, trending, and risk assessment.
  • Familiarty with NetJets Flight Operations preferred.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in analyzing reports, assessing risks, and making recommendations.
  • Must possess a demonstrated high degree of personal and professional integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
