Purpose of Position
The HR Generalist supports the organization's HR initiatives by delivering day‑to‑day human resources services, including employee relations support, performance management coordination, compliance activities, and HR project assistance. This role partners closely with HR Business Partners and their client groups to help ensure consistent application of HR practices and a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment. This position focuses on supporting and escalating complex matters to partner with HR team members.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Employee Relations Support
• Serve as an initial point of contact for employee and manager questions, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures.
• Assist HR Business Partners as the first point of contact for gathering employee relations cases information, including documentation and scheduling meetings.
• Support low‑complexity issues by applying established policies; escalate sensitive or complex matters immediately to senior HR team members. Does not conduct investigations or provide independent recommendations as the role is designed to support and escalate appropriately.
• Maintain accurate case documentation and help ensure consistency in process and record‑keeping.
Performance Management
• Coordinate and provide administrative support for the continuous performance management process.
• Assist managers with navigating tools, timelines, and standard expectations for performance reviews.
• Support the creation and tracking of performance improvement plans under guidance from the HR Business Partner.
• Compile and summarize performance data to support HRBP insights and coaching.
Compliance
• Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations by supporting audits, tracking requirements, and maintaining documentation.
• Partner with HR Compliance to support implementation of policy changes and maintain version control.
• Awareness of HR policy updates and assist with communications to managers and employees.
• Support I9 processes for new hires, terminations, reverifications, and retention.
HR Projects
• Participate in HR initiatives and projects such as process improvements, system updates, communication rollouts, or employee experience activities.
• Assist cross-functional teams by providing data, coordinating tasks, or supporting logistics for HR-related initiatives.
• Responsible for the maintenance of the HRBP Toolbox (create naming convention for files, folders, archives, and maintain version control).
Administrative Support
Support Off-Boarding
◦ Coordinate offboarding activities, including and limited to drafting initial documentation, drafting separation-related communications, and ensuring accuracy of offboarding details for sensitive separations or severances. Drafting documentation and communications are limited to initial templates and must be reviewed/approved by HRBP and Legal.
◦ Support HRBPs and managers with offboarding activities.
◦ Conduct exit interviews and manage follow-up actions, capturing insights, addressing outstanding questions, and ensuring timely communication with former employees.
◦ Support post-employment processes, including unemployment claims, requests, and maintaining compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Leave of Absence and Accommodations
◦ Work closely with the LOA team to review LOA requests, return to work requests, and accommodations requests as needed in effort to keep HRBPs and direct managers informed without interpreting any medical restrictions or approving requests for accommodations.
◦ Act as a liaison between managers and HRBPs with any concerns or issues with employee requests.
