Purpose of Position
The Material Planner is responsible for managing inventory and purchasing procedures of rotable and expendable aircraft parts for two distribution centers and eight service hub warehouses. The Material Planner collaborates with Maintenance Managers, Material Coordinators, Fleet Managers, and Line Maintenance Planners to determine requirements and stockage level. The Material Planner works directly with suppliers to gain access to inventory and purchase repair parts for stock. The Material Planner develops stocking policies and strategies to ensure proper Min-Max, Reorder Point, and Days of Supply On-Hand. This role has significant impact on $100M+ materials spend and $10M+ of freight spend.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Plan and control inventory of aircraft parts, analyze inventory levels, inventory positioning, and planned maintenance consumption to create warehouse stocking models for 2 distribution centers and 8 Service Hub Warehouses.
- Coordinate with Fleet Managers, Maintenance Managers, Material Coordinators, Maintenance Planners, Engineering, suppliers to develop effective materials strategy to meet demands.
- Manage the purcashing process while interacting directly with suppliers to receive best pricing and best lead time for parts.
- Develop, revise, and implement policies, standard operating procedures, and processes that directly effect material planning and component repair.
- Establish procedures, plan, and supervise the annual physical inventories at ten locations
