Purpose of Position
The New Hire Crew Onboarding Director is responsible for the end-to-end strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of the onboarding experience for newly hired pilots. This role ensures that pilots are fully prepared, both operationally and culturally, to integrate into the company’s flight operations while adhering to all regulatory requirements and corporate policies. This includes managing the critical first year of employment to establish a strong relationship, connection, and loyalty to the company.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader with a deep understanding of flight operations, pilot training, regulatory compliance, and labor relations. They will be responsible for ensuring that all new hire pilots transition smoothly into their roles as productive, safety-focused, and engaged members of the team.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Program Design & Leadership
• Enhance and improve the current onboarding program that supports new pilots through their first year, with an emphasis on educating the pilot on the resources available to them as well as assimilation and connection to the NetJets culture.
• Ensure onboarding processes align with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and incorporate probationary status requirements.
• Establish short- and long-term onboarding goals tied to safety, training performance, and employee retention metrics.
Probationary Year Oversight
• Develop a structured framework for managing pilot performance, feedback, and documentation during the 12-month probationary period.
• Collaborate with Chief Pilot, Flight Operations, and HR to monitor pilot progress, identify support needs, and mitigate risks during probation.
• Create tools and training for leadership to provide consistent feedback, evaluation and mentorship during probation.
Labor Relations Collaboration
• Partner with Labor Relations on matters related to onboarding and probation through the applicable committee.
• Ensure all processes respect and reflect the CBA, including provisions related to scheduling, seniority, grievance rights, and representation during onboarding.
• Partner with union representatives to co-develop onboarding modules that reflect both company standards and culture.
Training & Compliance Coordination
• Coordinate with the Training department to review and improve the new hire training experience from indoc to IOE, and their first recurrent.
Cross-Functional Integration
• Review and align onboarding workflows with all departments to ensure pilots have all necessary access, resources, and credentials on day one.
• Facilitate smooth transitions into company culture.
• Build continuous feedback loops from recently onboarded pilots and operational leaders to identify improvement areas.
Technology & Process Optimization
• Evaluate and assist in implementing onboarding platforms and digital tools to streamline communication, scheduling, documentation, and feedback collection.
• Partner with BI&A and HR to review and improve reporting tools to provide real-time updates to senior leadership on onboarding metrics and pilot progression.

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field;
• 5+ years of experience in aviation including operations, onboarding, or training.
• Experience managing pilots within a unionized workforce and familiarity with collective bargaining agreements.
• Previous experience in a Part 121 or Part 135 environment strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
• Deep understanding of FAA regulations, flight crew qualification requirements, and pilot certification processes.
• Strong knowledge of unionized aviation environments, including probation policies, grievance procedures, and pilot representation.
• Exceptional leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a talent for building trust and alignment across departments and with union partners.
• Data-driven mindset with a focus on measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
