Purpose of Position
The Safety Investigator, Senior serves as a subject matter expert within the NetJets Safety organization and plays a critical role in the execution and continuous improvement of the comprehensive NetJets Safety Program. This role independently leads complex safety investigations, including high-risk incidents and accidents; provides expert-level facilitation of the Safety Risk Management (SRM) process; and influences operational decision-making through data-driven safety analysis and strategic recommendations.
The Senior Safety Investigator works closely with operational partners, regulatory agencies, and industry stakeholders, and provides guidance and mentorship to less-experienced investigators while supporting the Safety Investigations Manager in advancing organizational safety objectives.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Independently lead and manage complex, high-risk, or high-visibility safety investigations, including accidents, serious incidents, and irregular operational events, conducted both on-site and remotely
- Ability to travel as needed with little to no notice to support safety investigations
- Determine investigation scope, methodology, and data sources; evaluate human, procedural, technical, and organizational factors; and develop defensible conclusions and recommendations
- Prepare comprehensive investigation reports suitable for executive leadership review and regulatory or external partner engagement
- Perform advanced analysis of operational and technical data to identify trends, systemic hazards, and emerging risks related to incidents, accidents, and irregular events
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable safety insights and strategic recommendations to inform operational and leadership decision-making
- Lead and support complex, multi-disciplinary safety risk analyses and risk assessments stemming from investigations or significant operational changes, ensuring clear articulation of risk, assumptions, and decision-support information for leadership
- Serve as a senior technical expert and facilitator supporting the Safety Risk Management (SRM) process by leading hazard identification and safety risk analysis activities related to investigations, irregular events, and emerging operational risks
- Actively partner with operational departments to design, implement, and evaluate Safety Enhancements that reduce operational risk and improve safety performance
- Support continuous improvement of safety data collection, analytical methodologies, and reporting processes
- Lead the development and delivery of safety training, briefings, and presentations, and support the strategy, content, and execution of Safety Meetings for diverse employee audiences, including leadership-level forums
- Provide technical guidance and informal mentoring to junior investigators and team members, promoting consistency, knowledge sharing, and investigative excellence across the function
